very special Children

At the Australian
National Arabian Championships held between 15th and 18th
March the Arabian Horse Society of Australia hosted children from
various charities and foundations including the Variety Club, Stewart
House, Shepard Centre and The Starlight Foundation.
Over two hundred
children accompanied by their carers or visiting with their families
attended the show. All experienced a special day out with the Arabian
horses at the fabulous Sydney International Equestrian Centre, the venue
specifically built for the Equestrian Olympic events.
The venue was ideal
giving areas for picnics, undercover safe seating and wide open barns so
the children could meet some of the horses and have for most, their
first hands on experience. Adam King of King Estate International,
invited the children to his stable block D and on one of the show days
75 children filled the block with excitement and enthusiasm, the
children fed, patted and cuddled the horses who themselves seemed to
understand the ‘moment’ was indeed a special one.
Credit must be given to
the Arabian horse’s good nature as these children climbed all over and
around the horses. No doubt leaving a very favourable impression on the
youngsters. The intensity and joy of the moment was something to
witness and be part of.
The Children were given
show bags with posters, magazines and stickers all donated by Mulawa
Stud, King Estate and AHSA to complete their day at the show.
Apparently with great pride these posters are now displayed throughout
hospital wards, homes and foundation offices.
This initiative of the
Arabian Horse Society of Australia was undoubtedly a true success and a
big thank you from all the charities and foundations to the AHSA for
sharing your beautiful Arabian horses with some of our community’s
special children.
